The New Puch Five Star Mags, From treatshq. They require some special changes to get them to fit right.
On the front wheel I used a Vespa Moped cable stop thing, as pictured above in diagram (a) Commonly found on the Vespa Ciao, Bravo, Grande, Si, Boxer and others

As I recall , I also did some re-threading where the brake cable adjuster threads into the brake plate, right. These cable stops work great and are easy to adjust. Just make sure the cable is mashed in there good, so it won’t slip.

Also The Rear brake plate may have to be made larger where it fits into the stop piece on the swing arm.

Also notice that the hole that holds this rear brake cable adjuster may also have to be drilled out larger.

Comment by elliott June 5, 2008 @ 4:49 amhi, i love ‘ped, I have a magnum xk myself that im fixing up. I ran into a bit of trouble when trying to replace the pedals though. I cannot not matter how hard i try remove the left side pedal. I also cannot remove the pedals from the donor moped i have. Is there some secret to pedal removal…any help would be much appreciated.
Comment by Dave June 28, 2008 @ 5:02 amim still working on my magnum but im thinking about running the 2spd engine- does a 40 tooth sprocket work for the rear wheel?!
:X
to my understanding it might be a struggle for the engine to shift with the stock 18×45 setup?! yikes
Comment by elliott June 30, 2008 @ 9:02 amany advise is appreciated.
Dave, one of my favorite moped techniques involves bashing things with a hammer. I would recommend this to get the pedals off. get a good pedal wrench, then hit the wrench with a hammer, or use a long pipe over the wrench to get more leverage. good luck!
Comment by rufus June 30, 2008 @ 6:37 pmhey elliott, I think stock gearing for a two speen is 18/40. or something like that, 45 rear is for one speed.
Comment by rufus June 30, 2008 @ 6:43 pmHello,
I was looking at buying some of those 5 star mags as well, but I was wondering if you know what the width is on the wheel? Is it 2.25, 2.5, or 3?
Thanks,
